Patel instructed agents at the bureau to disregard an email Musk sent to workers earlier on Saturday, titled: 'What did you do last week?'
Musk's email ordered workers to reply to the message with five bullets detailing all of their accomplishments at work in the past week and to cc in their manager.
Not long after, Patel overruled Musk's memo with his own message, making it clear that the FBI 'is in charge of all of our review processes, and will conduct reviews in accordance with FBI procedures.'
'When and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses. For now, please pause any responses,' he wrote.
Patel's interference is one of his first

More like the beginning of the end of Kash Patel’s career. Who does he think he is?
Good grief, it’s neither. Settle down folks , everything is fine.
The public chatbot interfaces are set up so the content of each user’s sessions are walled off from other ordinary public users. Even the content of a given user’s questions is separate from all his other questions (although each of his sessions corresponding to given initial questions can persist over many logins over time). However, there is no guarantee that a user’s content is protected from developers or inside people (such as OpenAI employees). This is where Musk’s involvement with AI companies would become interesting.
In the case of a private LLM or chatbot (say one run by a private company or government) the high-level employers of that organization becomes the “insiders”.
Musk needs to think his wording through a bit more carefully. He might get 5 REAL Bullets from those loonies.
Patel is on Team Trump. He is simply asserting the authority that belongs to him.
Yes, it is solvable.
I’d do the same thing as Patel though and there are lots of very good reasons. One of them being, “If you are in charge, be in charge.” You can’t be seen as the boss if someone else is giving orders to your troops. It just isn’t done.
Wasn’t Patel going through the confirmation process last week? He wouldn’t have anything to report about his FBI work anyway.
This is not good. I don’t doubt Patel’s commitment to MAGA and probably he wants to show that he stand for his agents. However, it can be done more smoothly and he has to show that FBI is open to DoGE.
Otherwise, he creates bad precedent and opens the door for other agency whose leadership is not yet 100% with Trump to say, “I am with Patel. I don’t.wanr my agency to be reviewed by DoGE!”
“What did you do last week” is a dumb question to ask.
In the military, my job varied WILDLY from one week to the next. I deployed up to 6 months a year for a 10 year period - worked 80+ hours a week deployed. When home, I did paperwork-only some weeks. Others might have involved flying, or local exercises, or even being on leave. I averaged a 60 hour week at home, but that could drop below 30 sometimes and hit 80. There were weeks where I was mostly at a desk and others where I never saw a desk.
When I worked for the Forest Service (pre-military), the time of year and weather had a huge impact - from building fences to vegetation surveys to repairing campgrounds to clearcutting timber.
Elon Musk is not perfect and his team doesn’t seem to understand that not all people work in offices at computers.
Thanks. That’s a very helpful answer.
I may as well learn more about this AI.
It is a phenomena that is not going away, so long as most of us are Grid-Bound.
ROFLMAO !!!
THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING!!!
Yessir, the same media that regularly served up LIE after LIE after LIE for year is now to be TOTALLY BELIEVED!
Give me a break.
State did the same thing about the same email. This isn’t some pissing contest between just Patel and Musk. Media is trying to create drama.
This is exactly what I expected from Kash Patel and why I consider him the best Trump pick of all of them. He’s going to be in charge, he’s going to be tough but fair and he’s going to be by the book right down the line.
Patel will be the best FBI Director in history.
There is a double standard here. If the person in charge works for Trump then they can overrule Musk. But it they are not a Trump pick then they cannot. Kash has no more power to override Musk than any of the other departments. In the end it all comes down to what Trump wants. He will chose who he wants to back off.
GOod point- probably folks shoukd,be careful what they “talk to” ai about as it likely stores all the info indefinately.
I remember Kash Patel talking about the FBI building with 7,000+ people in it. Seven thousand that do not leave their office much. Patel’s question was: “What are they doing in there about the crimes in [FILL IN THE BLANK]?”
I imagine if some of the first transfers to other FBI offices around the country do not leave their new office, they will leave with their last paycheck.
PS - Remember, President Trump is in charge.
REMINDER for Patel: The border wall is supposed to be at the borders of the USA . . . NOT around SWAMP agencies.
In the overall scheme of things,
until DODGE has had the chance
to run it’s course, these two
entities need to coordinate Trumps
agenda. This type of infighting
only adds fuel to the Dems
objections of the entire process.
I can fully understand Kesh’s
eagerness to try and straighten
out an organization that has been
corrupt for decades.
leftist press trying to foment dissent.
Zi saw an interview where bondi and the press secretary said the msm would be doing this type of article.
she said the cabinet and trump are in constant communication.
The press did this to the trump team the first go round.
not this time.
I think Kash doesn’t want anyone removed until he has collected the chum who was running the political intervention machine.
Bkmk
Obviously, ChatGPT is unaware that many jobs present few such opportunities... :-(
