Zelensky's five moves that set off Trump
Axios ^ | 2/21/2025 | Marc Caputo

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky angered Donald Trump so much during the peace talks with Russia that Trump was on the verge of withdrawing American military support from Ukraine, three U.S. officials familiar with the discussions tell Axios.

-snip-

The deal Trump appears to be negotiating could be highly controversial. Based on their public and private statements, Trump's team is expected to pressure Zelensky into giving up Crimea (which Putin seized in 2014) portions of eastern Ukraine and the Azov Coast (occupied in Russia's 2022 invasion).

--- "The unnamed person is correct. Zelensky only has two options: Trump or Putin. Europe is a joke. Why antagonize President Trump?"

Given political stances and alliances, the question is perhaps better phrased, "why CONTINUE to antagonize President Trump?"

As to your other comment: "Europe is a joke." Many of the European elite are to be sure.

True, but even of it wasn’t, let’s be realistic. Militarily, Russia is winning the war. When has the winner of a war EVER just given up the territory it gained and continues to occupy at the peace negotiation? Current military status should be a realistic baseline for any peace negotiations. Russia isn’t going to voluntarily give up the land it conquered in the current war and they certainly aren’t giving up Crimea either. Any negotiation predicated on Russia doing so is doomed to fail.

That, My Man, is the plan. In due time the printing presses will run out of paper to print money on and ink. And the American Taxpayer will be unable to bear the weight that has been placed upon their shoulders. Then comes collapse. Which is the wet dream of the Globalists, One Worlders, and Democrat voters.

This is called bringing Zelensky to the table. Crimea was always going to part of the deal as well as the Dinesk and Donbass. Putin didn’t lose 600,000-700,000 troops taking that territory just to give it up. One of the things that led to the war was the Ukraine threatening to cancel the lease on Putin’s only port on the Black Sea.

If we don’t get the rights to those minerals China will swoop in and grab them as soon as the ink is dry on the peace treaty.

Historically, invasions of Russia from the west, came through the Ukraine.

Russia doesn’t want NATO on it’s doorstep, and I get that.

Also, now that the E. Orthodox church has recovered ground in the former USSR, Russia is a, more or less, immense conservative nation that is inconsistent with current European thinking. (That’s a guess on my part.)

You don’t understand Russia and you have been fed with the Putin is the devil mantra. Trump is more than able to work with Putin now and have quick turn around. Putin is a pragmatist. He’s never not Iranian.

Nonsense. Putin wants the old Soviet glory, at whatever needless cost to Russians. His allies are all military threats to the US, which itself is chastened by God for rejecting His laws.

Maybe, but not on paper. Simply let them buy as much arms as they can. Maybe a minerals for weapons type deal. When they’re no longer in an active war with Russia, they could be allowed to buy advanced weapons like ballistic missiles, without restrictions.

Give them a path to join but not right away. They have a number of reforms they must do to get there.

I don’t agree that joining NATO is the “only” way to deter Russia. Unlike Germany in 1939, Russia is not at their peak strength, by which I mean the Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe and Kreigsmarine in 1939.

The Crimea was ethnically Russian

Crimea is only ‘ethnically’ Russian because Russia deported the Ukrainians to Russia and replaced them with Russians.

In 1000AD, the Turkish Empire controlled the southern part of Crimea and the Kievan Rus’ Empire controlled the eastern part of Crimea into what is now called Russia (which did not exist at the time nor did Katherine the Great whore). The Peshmegs controlled the rest of the province.

BTW: Peter the so-called Great stole the name Rus to make his Muscovy Empire seem important by renaming it Russia, and not just collections of rude buildings in swamp and forest.

The Crimean peninsula at that time, 1462AD, was controlled by Poland.

Later your heroine Katherine took Crimea from Poland.

From what I have seen, the Russian values of today are more like what America’s used to be before the West turned, as they say, “globohomo” and “woke.”

If Ukraine gives those territories up, they should be able to join NATO in return. Otherwise, the Russians will come back for the rest later, as the Nazis did with Czechoslovakia after the Munich agreement.

A likely result, and Putin, allied with China, Iran and N. Korea, is military enemy #2 of the West. Yet NATO itself overall is committing suicide by warring against God with its adoption of abortion, LGBTQ etc.
