Wife and I refused amniocentesis tests as they have a risk of causing miscarriage. An ultrasound of one of our children showed abnormal skull circumference to thighbone length and some other similar measurements. The early diagnosis was ‘greater than 50% severely mentally retarded’ and ‘edwards syndrome’ (trisomy 18).
After more and more ultrasounds over the next few months the neonatal specialist ‘backed off that diagnosis.’ She was born small but now as a teenager is perfectly healthy and intelligent.
There have been so many similar accounts of false positives out there that Doctors should be mandated to inform the parents that these tests are not reliable.

I refused ultrasounds. What does all that energy do to the developing brain? There is no data it was the Army base. There is no out of pocket cost
They pressured be nastily. I asked, what am I going to do with an abnormal ultrasound? Kill the baby?
They couldn’t answer that
I said well I’m not going to kill the baby so stop pressuring me with this ultrasound
I know a woman who was so silly- still is- had weekly ultrasounds. The kid is severely autistic. That’s one person. Not a scientific study. What was the purpose of weekly ultrasounds? I asked her at the time. I got tge same hateful nasty but empty attitude, defensive of her precious Doctor I got from covid vaccine takers.
