To me, the worst policy decision Biden made was killing the Keystone Pipeline. It immediately threw 11,000 workers out of a job and shut off the pathway for crude oil from the North Dakota oil fields to reach the refineries in the Mississippi Delta. He ignored the Water-Pebble Effect where one small act ripples through the entire economic system, from distillate fuels used to power tractors and grow food and more that output from the field to the table, plus pharmaceuticals, clothing, fertilizers, and just about everything else we need.

Trumps changes are another Water-Pebble event, but it will take time to wend its way through the system. Be patient, as the effect will be worthwhile and significant.

I keep waiting to hear that Keystone is back in business. It was almost finished.

By rights, the owners and investors should be compensated for their losses.

Stopping the Keystone XL did create an economic ripple in a bad way. It also put a lot of union workers out of work. Refineries on the Gulf Coast were in the process of upgrading and expanding to handle the tar sands crude from Canada. Now those refineries have processing equipment that sits idle.

And those refineries had to cut costs to absorb those losses.

When the dims cancelled the pipeline, I think they knew what they were doing.

Wreck the economy then build back better. Except better wasn’t going to be better for us.
