Audience member -- "we love you Don!"
Wow.
Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder abruptly rushed offstage after suffering medical emergency
I always wanted to see him back with the Eagles, his side of the story is the Don Henley and Glenn Frye fired him.
Whatever the reason, at their age, kiss and make up and get back to making great music, now that Glenn Frye is gone, I think in his memory get back together.
A bit of trivia, Don Felder, Tom Petty and Bernie Leadon (original member of the Eagles), all live in the same neighborhood in Gainesville, Fl around the same time and Felder actually was a guitar teacher to Tom Petty.
“the same neighborhood in Gainesville, Fl “
Don’t forget Duane Allman who greatly influenced Felder.
Leadon told the band about Felder, who sat in with them at least once, and that made Felder an easy hire, and later, an easy fire.
Based on at least one story (the Alan Cranston fiasco) that Frye told, IOW, just getting his side of it, I’d conclude that Frye was a total *******.
Thanks!
I could be wrong but didn’t Felder have a hand in writing the music to Hotel California, I seem to remember he was instrumental in developing the song versus just performing it on stage
The Dimmer Twins (Henley and Frye) seem to have downplayed the contributions of some other members of the Eagles. Their first real hit was "Take it to the Limit", which was one of the late Randy Meisner's, but he had a hard time getting paid for that later. This is the best live rendition IMHO, and it looks like it's all legit and won't (unlike earlier uploads people have done) isn't going to vanish.

I watched a 3 hour Eagles documentary on Netflix. It was mostly told by Henley and Frey. My impression was that Frey didn’t care much for Felder. He claimed that Felder wanted to claim every credit for their sings by coming up with a stray note or minor guitar riff.
The shame of it is in later years given their concerts and renewed interest after years apart, they probably made considerably more money than when they started, Felder was a part of those early years and success and should be reaping some of the rewards.
They are still playing live at the Sphere resort in Las Vegas, which has to be hugely profitable for everyone.
I saw Eagles at the Sphere in Vegas 2 weeks ago. Glenn Frey’s son Deacon and Country Star Vince Gill filled in quite nicely. The show was amazing and The Sphere was out of control fun. If anyone can afford it I highly recommend trying to see that show. The singing, the sound, the visuals were all top notch. The Sphere has 164,000 speakers and you are immersed in sound that puts quadrophonic to shame. The old dudes still sounded like 1977.
Wow. He dedicates the song to Glenn Frey, starts Peaceful Easy Feeling and then looks at a girl offstage and she comes and escorts him off. He looked like he was about to pass out.
It doesn’t look completely unexpected. Could be dehydration or almost anything that makes one woozy or some ongoing medical situation. Dunno. Rest up Don.
I grew up in that neighborhood, albeit not quite when they were there. They were already famous by the time I moved there.
My limited understanding is that Felder is persona non grata to the rest of the Eagles. They will never kiss and make up,
In the final instance, Frey and Henley were insisting the Eagles play a fundraiser for Alan Cranston. Felder wasn’t into it and said, “Why can’t we just play music and not get into politics?” Felder was apparently very dismissive of Cranston to his face, which infuriated Frey. As they continued to play, Frey said to him, “Two more songs until I kick your ass!” Then, “One more song, Don!” Felder apparently took off without a ridiculous fistfight and never looked back.
A Fox article listed the following statement:
“”Don experienced a medical episode last night during the show. He received medical attention and was deemed to be suffering from dehydration,” Felder’s manager, Charlie Brusco, told Fox News Digital.
“By medical rules of the cruise, he’ll be in quarantine for the next 24 hours to rest. Arrangements are being made for him to play on Saturday and Sunday.”
***“the same neighborhood in Gainesville, Fl “

There’s a book about all that, very interesting. Called “Music Everywhere: The Rock and Roll Roots of a Southern Town”

Stephen Stills was down there too
Yes, he was!
