My Dad was a notorious Horse Racing fan. He used to make a pilgrimage to Saratoga every August for at least 45 years. He definitely would have been betting on Trump’s Girl.

We have kin in the racing business, here at clan Buttons. Except for the auctions and the actual races, it’s pretty dull. (Foaling season, we’re glad when it’s dull.) Mostly it’s all about feeding, medicating, and mucking.
I do get a lifetime supply of ivermectin. :D

Nice win by Trumps Girl but it was the place pony that made the tri payout so juicy.

I’m still amazed at the trifecta payouts. Hmmmmm.

Get a couple double digit odds horses to win and place with the favorite finishing out of the money and you have a vreat day at the races. Happens all the time. The trick is finding gems. And getting lucky, of course!

Look at race 8 results and payout as example.

I'll be checking out todays Gulfstream and Ozone park forms in a cpl hours. Want to compare notes? ;-)

How many double digit odds horses do you add into the trifecta box mix? One, two, three?

I have been adding in just one long odds horse in a four box trifecta and with the typical payouts for trifectas have been sorely disappointed lately.

Thanks for your kindly advice.

To me it honestly has alot to do with trainer/jockey combos. I am fortunate to have a good number of smart Puerto Rican friends to bounce ideas off of. If i box 4 horses for a tri i always add at least one double digit odds for the early races. The later day races always seem to have better long shot results. I add one mid range odds horse, (5/1 through 8/1), for the first 3 or 4 races. As the day goes on I try to find more viable longshots.

As always, you can study the trends and stats all day long but it still comes down to luck. Especially as they bump and jostle leaving the gate.

I hope you did. Was a very good day for me at both Gulfstream and Ozone. Not great, but better than good. All the patrons enjoys the fruits too. Dumped a C note back to the host's business.

Aqueduct was a frequent exacta hit because of the conditions. It was snowy and sloppy and juicy because favorites could't keep up with the mudders. Gulfstream had 2 really nice hits for me. Even Fairgrounds had some g1 and 2 races today. Getting excited for this years derby.

Congratulations on your hard work and generosity!

Sounds like it was a great day (would be for me).

I will make a note of your mudder tip. I'm not yet factoring in mud but I sure see enough of it.

If you remain that generous you will have some ongoing good luck. I hope so.
