House GOP leaders placate fiscal hawks to launch their party-line plan

The chair of the House Freedom Caucus said members of his group would back the budget blueprint on the floor if a mandate for more spending cuts gets folded in on Thursday during committee debate.

...

That amendment would shrink the amount of tax cuts Republicans can pursue if they don't cut $2 trillion in spending, forcing the Ways and Means Committee to find other spending cuts in order to achieve Trump's vast tax reform goals. If adopted, as expected, it would placate deficit hawks while riling many Republicans in swing districts, the ongoing struggle of House GOP leaders. House Republican leaders aim to bring the budget plan to the floor for a vote the last week of February.

House Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Harris (R-Md.) said Thursday that his coalition of fiscal conservatives would vote in support of the plan on the House floor if the amendment is folded in during Thursday's markup.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), a House Freedom Caucus member who backed the tweak, expressed his resounding support for the budget at the outset of the markup. "I'm proud of what the chairman has put forward," Roy said. "I believe that it is responsible. And I believe it is a balance of what we're supposed to do."

It’s all crap.

Talk about getting $2 Trillion of spending cuts gets waved in front of the Freedom Caucus as if it was a slice of chocolate cake.

IT’S OVER 10 YEARS, people, and the first 4 years have nearly nothing.

And you want the really bad news? If it was divided evenly to $200 billion per year over 10 years, well, the current spending is about 6.5Trillion. Inflation is at least and probably more than 2%/yr. That 6.5T adds 130 billion just for inflation adjustment. So the ballyhooed $200B in first year cuts is only $70B. And that gets eaten by 3.3% interest on the national debt.

THERE IS NO CUT HERE. It’s all bullshit. There is no solution.

Oh and btw, the Senate won’t pass this. Even with 3 extra seats.

They tell you it is over 10 yrs. How can it be a claim if that’s what they quote in interviews.
