Won’t the poor fishes get hurt from the broken glass? Oh, the horror!
What’s meant by “leader”: is it President or Chancellor?
This is the guy who enabled Merkel to form a government, at the price of going green and tanking the German economy.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, the office of the President is largely ceremonial.
The powers of the Chancellor, however, are equivalent to those of the Prime Minister in, e.g., the U.K.

Doesn’t necessarily say which position Habeck is apparently vying for.
The process of electing the President of the Federal Republic of Germany is quite different from the process of selecting a Chancellor (Prime Minister).
A German politician saying that he wants to become President is equivalent to an American politician saying that he wants to become Supreme Court Justice, or Speaker of the House.
Would also like to know what German word he allegedly used for "leader." Maybe Führer?
In short: In context, he can only have meant that he wants to become Chancellor.
