Interesting that a person with no business in the war is giving deadlines.

Are you suggesting Trump is going to put us in a war with Russia?

No, just give Ukraine what it needs to win, if he thinks that he can get a good deal.

Ukraine has no troops, no leader, no money. The war has been over for six months. Russia is just taking its time mopping up.

You have a distorted view of the war. Ukraine has been holding Russia off for three years. The Russians have suffered huge casualties in men and material for minimal gains. Their money is running out and now Ukraine has been hitting them in the heart with its attacks on refineries. All is not rainbows and sunshine is Russia as you think. The Russians need more than just “mopping up.”

“The Russians have suffered huge casualties in men and material for minimal gains.”

***********

While Russia has sustained substantial casualties it has not been for “minimal gains”. Russia controls about 20 percent of the Ukraine. That is far from “minimal” by any definition.

Practically all of that 20% was captured in the first six months of the war. Since then the Russians have been struggling. It has taken them 11 months to advance 50 km towards Pokvrosk in a front that is no more than 30 km wide. Most of the rest of the front has been stagnant. And even here there has been a slacking of the advance in the last few weeks. Yes, for over two years the gains have been minimal and at great cost.

If I occupied 20% of your home, some of it right next to your living room, would you see that as minimal?

Again, I am talking about the last two years. Russia has not been able to do much since their first assault. Ukraine has been holding its own.

You made no attempt to answer the question. OK.

Best estimates are that Russia’s casualties are about 1/10 what Ukraine’s are. Still, that means about 100,000 dead Russians. That is double our Vietnam losses, so it’s a lot. And Ukraine has about 1 million dead. All for nothing. Nothing but the US determination to keep Russia as a scary boogeyman that could justify massive defense (offense) spending and enable the US to become the Boss of the World.

We differ. All the sources I read, which are many and are in the region indicate Ukraine has suffered 10 times the losses and has wiped out its male population . This is supported by most media, except the media that pushes Global Warming and 70 Genders and White Man bad. Honest reporters in the war zone are almost all reporting this. Russia’s economy is growing faster than the US. Putin is highly popular there. And BRICS, which the US created by its immoral and stupid sanctions against Russia denying it access to the world trade settlement systems. So, Russia created alternative partnerships with others who detest the idea of the US acting as though it can unilaterally decide to “debank” a country. Conservatives call out US banks for doing this, and we should call out our own government for doing this to other countries. We are not a good force in the world right now.
