I’ve been through Adirondack Park many times. Just beautiful, as is most of N.Y. State. This is sounding better the more I read about it, and I love to fish. Spent many summers in Verendrye Provincial Park in Quebec. Caught a 17 3/4 lb Northen pike, that was my best catch along with many walleye and other pike. Boldt Castle sounds interesting, and the towns also. Any good restaurants along the shores accessed by boat?

There’s dock side eating and drinking in Alex Bay that i recall. Not so much as you head downstream toward north east. Mostly private cottages. I recall recommendations to head upstream for Clayton and Cape Vincent. I think that puts you into Lake Ontario.
It’s been years since we visited the 1000 Islands. I’ve always wanted to rent a boat-only access island/cottage and let my dog run totally free for the week. The sound of the water there gets into your bones. Enjoy and safe traveling FRiend...

Should have added;
If you like salmon fishing, check out Polaski, NY. South on I81 from Alex Bay. When the run happens, that seems to be the most renowned spot. I have old friends from CT who make the trip every year. I think they’re working on 40+ straight years. Lot of folks from WNY make the trip and rave about fishing the eastern end of lake Ontario and feeders...FWIW
