We haven't had a vacation in several years now, and I was checking out some different ideas when I came across a website I didn't save and I can't find either. It's renting a houseboat and cruising down the St. Lawrence river along the Thousand Island stretch. I was wondering if anyone out there in Freeper land has tried this? Sounds like it could be fun, plenty of places to stop along the way, throw out a line maybe catch a muskie.

Well the border snakes its way through the islands. You might drift into the 51st by chance. Boldt Castle is worth a look.

The guided river cruises are very worthwhile. I, too enjoyed Boldt Castle. Avoid Alexandria Bay-tourist trap. Clayton is a nice town with lots to do.

Great area. Boldt Castle is well worth the visit. Especially cool are the restored vintage, wooden racing boats.
Alexandria Bay is very “touristy” but kind of fun. Couple good bars for sunset drinks.
There is excellent fishing nearby in Black Lake. Northern, walleye, large and small mouth bass. Crappie by the bucket load at the right time.
Also, very close to the north western edge of the Adirondack Park. If you’ve never been to the high peaks region of the ADK, do yourself a favor and check it out.
