Agree. And if not the Ray Charles version, the drop singers all together and just have a band play it so the crowd can sing along.
I’ve always thought that going to singers was a secret effort to get people to stop singing along, and eventually forget the words all together. There’s a unifying spirit that comes from singing with a crowd - anyone who’s been in the service and sang marching songs/cadances understands.
Agreed. Or if you have a singer then he/she shouldn’t deviate so much off script it’s hard to sing along with.
