Oh really? Where was their outrage 28 years ago when she was given the award?
And for what it's worth, had it not been for this article, you would never have known about any claims she may have made.
But I digress, why is it 28 years later that the Canadian govt. finally decides to act against her?

They didn’t know 28 years ago. They only found out when CBC did an expose on her.
I could be wrong but I think she’s been a left wing darling for ages. My memory of her is pretty dim. A folk singer type with now faux native heritage. Nothing she ever did impressed me. On top of the native lie the birthplace lie might have done her in with this award.
