You don’t need to be a weather man to know which way the wind blows.

We’re going to find out really fast that the really big colleges like the Ivy League schools and multiple others were getting money from what amounts to a slush fund through USAID and other sources. The very idea of a campus shutdown due to such widespread monetary abuse is no longer far-fetched.

I truly hope that comes to pass.

However, I see conflation of the terms “executive order” and “law”. And as we’re were witnessing, we’ve been whipsawed by executive orders every time an administration changes.

Being a small L libertarian private citizen, my first reaction to an executive order is that I don’t work for an executive branch, so go pound sand.

There need to be a process by which these changes become irreversible for the long term without significant legislative discussion.

Much of what Trump is trying to do involves cultural changes. He realizes that and plays the role of populist with panache.

We are starting to see proof of taxpayer theft on an unimaginable scale.

Musk may have understated his estimate of $2 trillion in fraud/waste/abuse annually in the federal budget.

“operate any programs promoting DEI that violate any applicable Federal anti-discrimination laws.”

Perhaps it should be:

We do not discriminate in resume, interview, application or hiring or enrollment decisions against any racial or ethnic group, include whites, blacks, Asians, Africans, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Asian Indians or Native Americans.

Please keep in mind that Executive Orders issued by the President are "Interpretations" of existing Constitutional and Congressional law.

Every E.O. is subject to Judicial review.

Same story for "Rules & Regulations" written by Executive Agencies.

Every R. & R. is subject to Judicial review.

The federal government should stop issuing new money student loans.

Let private lenders step in to fill the gap, with:
1. at least 120% of the principal amount having to be repaid before the person can declare bankruptcy on the balance, if the person has had W-2 income of at least $40,000 in a tax or calendar year,
2. at least 80% of the principal amount having to be repaid before the person can declare bankruptcy on the balance, if the person never has had W-2 income of at least $40,000 in a calendar year but has had a 1040 Adjusted Gross Income of at least $30,000 in a tax or calendar year,
3. at least 50% of the principal amount having to be repaid before the person can declare bankruptcy on the balance, if the person never has had a 1040 Adjusted Gross Income of at least $30,000 in a tax or calendar year.

Making student loans a market product will help direct students to a college education which has market value.

There should be for each sector of federal government, a basic operating budget, a to-be-continued projects budget and a new projects budget.

I remember from about 45 years ago complaints about universities taking ~50% off the top of research grants.

Perhaps the universities should just charge for space, equipment and personnel.

The high percentage is excessive for expensive medical and scientific research.

All of academia needs to be overhauled. This is not the 17-19 hundreds. The knowledge needed today is much different. The job base is more varied. And essentially, we need to remove all propaganda which has inundated every area.

Most kids have no idea what they want to do, what jobs are available and how much education is required. If it doesn’t lead to employment, it shouldn’t offer a degree.

Service to country, in some capacity (not necessarily active duty military), and payment of taxes, with a test taken (and passed) to determine if you know how the government actually works, should be required to vote.

I would streamline primary and secondary education, followed by a 2-3 year service to country commitment (make them grow up too), followed by aptitude testing, determined need for particular jobs (We don’t need everybody going into one field), academic choice (Could be licensing, certification, vocational, technological, or purely academically based) paths. Just a few ideas.

MANY changes need to come. It is time.
