An employee at, say, the Department of the Interior would have useful things to do. Hire forest rangers, order supplies for the national parks. Stuff like that.
But I can’t think of a single useful thing an employee at the Department of Education could do. Maybe there are such things. But I can’t think of any.
The one thing I don’t want to see gone is NAEP, the testing system that keeps track of K-12 educational status. That’s the main system that keeps score.
The education industrial complex tries to ignore NAEP because pretty much all their data consistently supports “conservative” conclusions.
