I was once told by a Washington lobbyist anyone who runs for reelection to Congress (House or Senate) is corrupt unless that person has enough personal wealth to fund his/her reelection campaigns. Anyone who has to raise campaign money sells his or her own soul (and vote). In addition, during the first few weeks of their first term new members are exposed to many “honey trap” opportunities set by US and foreign intelligence agencies as well as operatives from their own and opposing political party. A surprisingly large number fall for the trap and are then controlled.
Look at the members of Congress who decline to run for reelection after one term. In that group you might find an honest person.
