Yep. It was speech in 1851. I think the title was something like “What Does the Fourth of July Mean to a Slave”. That was eighteen years after Britain had abolished slavery throughout their empire. I picked it up for an essay I wrote saying that the troubles we have gotten into as a country come from ignoring the principles of our founding.
