I too used to scoff at claims of seeing auras. Then I learned that human color vision is more variable than is commonly realized. Some people, usually women, are thought to have tetrachromacy, meaning that, like some animals, they have not three but four types of color-sensing cone cells in the retinas in their eyes.

This provides an extra channel of light sensing into the ultraviolet range, with the visual processing center of the brain converting this into perception of a wider range of colors. I believe that this may account for people who see auras.

Sounds reasonable. But wouldn’t that mean everyone would have the same color aura? Why would it vary, person to person? Lots of questions & not many easy answers.
