Carlson explained that the FAA added a biographical questionnaire to the air traffic controller application process, which he said gave more points to would-be controllers who lacked a scientific background or who had been unemployed for the previous three years than they did to licensed pilots.
"In other words, the FAA actively searched for unqualified air traffic controllers. That is insane, and they knew it was insane when they did it, but they did it anyway," he said.
In an email Carlson said he obtained, the executive who created the biographical questionnaire "admits that the test he devised has nothing to do with finding the best air traffic controllers. If you want good air traffic controllers, find people with experience. That was his advice. The FAA ignored this, and used the biographical screen anyway. ... Compared to diversity, your safety meant nothing to them."
More than a fair amount of blame needs to be put on the shoulders of the previous SECDEF.

Everything leads back to Barry Sombrero.
But he’s too stupid to lead anything, he was just the front man. So the question is - who was pulling his strings and plotting the demise of the USA??
Why are they still hiding the name and RANK of the female co-pilot. Who was flying the helicopter at the time of the crash?
Criminal!
Have you been able to listen to the recording of the Traffic Controller and the pilot (I assume), it was a training flight so who knows. The Controller warned the copter about the plane, pilot said he (deep male voice) saw it, and requested visual separation. That means he want to handle it himself. The controller OK’ed it. After a pause (don’t know the length) the controller warns the pilot again and he says very calmly that he has visual asks for visual separation again and the controller says OK, and it happened pretty quick after that.
A retired or senior pilot has a video up and plays all the vocal transmissions. He says (and radar) shows there is a line of planes coming in to land the airport’s 3 runways.
This pilot thinks the copter pilot was looking at the plane ahead of the one he hit. He still definitely went into forbidden airspace for him, the plane was cleared to land and was right where it should have been.
I think the controller should have ordered that copter to drop and turn, emergency, do it now.
And our fine Sec. of Transportation at the time, Elaine Chao, didn’t address it immediately?
Shocking.
Could anyone find the actual document “Controller Hiring by the numbers” FAA 2013?
