If you study Marianne's life history a bit you begin to see why the 1987 version is as powerful and haunting as it is.
Thanks very much for posting that.
RIP Marianne.
RIP.
Sounds of our youth

Great insight. Addicts take note. It would be easier to resist a drink if I were surrounded by open bottles of liquor than it would be to an old ‘friend’ offering me a single beer.
Come and Stay With Me--Marianne Faithful (1965)
Yes, that’s the best. Thanks.
RIP Marianne.
She looks so similar to Patti Boyd.
If I recall correctly, she appeared in The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus film.
I experienced music for the first time via the Beatles - so different from everything that came before them.
In ‘68, I moved to Hollyweird to transfer from Cincy to UCLA...and the petite blonde w/big blue eyes who lived next door came with me.
On a Sat afternoon in ‘69, I had our clock radio that was sitting atop the refrigerator tuned to KHJ - the top 40 station.
I began hearing new songs and the guest DJ was speaking about the song, what it was about or what was happening in the studio at the time.
The DJ? George Harrison
The album? The White album
A week later it was released and I bought it at a shop on Sunset.
The British invasion was incredible..Stones, Who, etc.
I really got into the Yardbirds and their unique guitar sound...and later discovered their lead guitarists were Clapton, Page, Beck - the latter was the best of that trio.
After almost 4 years, we returned home to Dayton, OH....but quite the experience at that time in that town.
Yup,the Yardbirds! “Roger The Engineer” is,IMO,one of the greatest rock albums of all time.
I always thought Bruce Hornsby had really good chops on the keys.
Yes, she does (did) ... the London It Girls!
……. A Mars a day etc …..
I don’t recall that but I sure recall that among those detained was a young woman clothed only in a carpet. That young woman was...well,you know.
Her singing Bilbao Song on yt?
Nice story. I can only imagine what that must have been like. She must have had an incredible presence.
But worth a watch IMO.
