You have to factor in three things Republican voters love to vote for and elect. And one group idiot voters love to vote for and elect.

Republican voters: RINOs, Trump haters, Haters of America.

Idiot voters: Idiot voters love to vote for and elect Democrats in spite of knowing how evil they are. Why they do it is beyond my powers of comprehension.

Just as the Republican voters of South Carolina will vote for and return to Office Lindsey Graham long after Hell has frozen over. No sane and logical explanation for it.
