Muriel Bowser, the DC mayor, has been complaining for 2-3 years how downtown DC is devoid of Federal workers. Who are needed to keep DC restaurants and retail shops in business.

Bowser has been mayor since 2015. She is allegedly “married” to Donna Brazile

Aside from her work at the federal agency, Cuesta works as an influencer, listing her favorite finds on Amazon for a commission on any purchases done through her shared links.

During work hours when she is being paid by the taxpayers? If so it will be hard to keep that up with her supervisor standing right there.

“sitting in traffic is such a huge waste of time”

Section 8 can be phased out within 30 miles of the White House.

Not crying for her at all.

If people rely on social media “influencers” for any decision, they deserve the nuts they get like this poor “must-go-back-to-work” federal employee.

The rise of social media “influencers” demonstrates the rise of the weak mentalitie that social media can create. Someone whose mind is working properly does not know nor care about social media “influencers”.

I predict 10% of the federal employees (based in DC) will fail to report.

Unless they are already working a plan to go straight to disability, the vast majority will show up. They will take sick days, they will cry and moan, but when threatened with losing their job, they will be there.

If I had a DC area AirBnB, i would have my rate doubled by now.

Also, what a proud and mature civil servant to lash out at her boss, the President of the United States, publicly on Tiktok (which would be impossible without his intervention), calling him "Cheeto".

You all have no idea of the melt downs from the entitled gravy train passengers known as FedGov workers. The posted mantra is being repeated all day long in DC. The Derp State must have sent out a script for all if them to follow. These people have been taken care of by the tax payers fir most if their fault lived and do NOT know how to take care of themselves on their own. I keep hearing about how there will be many suicides (I hope not) and how mean Trump is and MAD they are at him.
Some of us relay what life us like in the private sector with pretty much zero job security and lousy benefits. When told these stories they are shocked (because they are babied and pampered in gov). Welcome to the real world, brats.

Some have moved out of the beltway region, though. It’s going to be tough to commute to the swamp from Florida or Nashville but I guess some will try.

You are probably right. There will be many 'hardship' waivers also. We can count on it.

That mental image will keep you up at night.

Not in the govt. The supervisor will probably be doing it too.

One wonders a couple of things. First, a good investigative journalist might take a look at this TikTok Influencer’s posts, particularly at the TIMES posted, and see whether it was on ‘government time’ or not. Secondly, she certainly is decked out in terms of make up, jewelry and finger nails. Did she take government time to go out for the beauty prep?

IMO, she’s pissed she lost her cool work-from-home gig because it would interfere with her real job - TikTok “Influencing.”

The heart of all this is these people feel entitled to these government “jobs” with all their flexibility, benefits, job security, and pampering. Reality is hitting these spoiled brats in the best possible way.

I think she should quit. Working 5 days per week is stressful and it appears she is stressed out.

Disagree. Most managers don’t understand the entire process of their employees’ work-to-product timeline (i.e, don’t understand the actual work required.)

The reason for all this kickback is primarily because it’s less actual work required to keep the job.

She should quit. It it looks like work is a bit too stressful for the ‘poor thing’.

I used to work for FedGov. At the time, I lived 43 miles from my job - at the Pentagon. The morning drives were not that bad - usually an hour. But I would get in already tense and upset from the drive. The last year or so of working there, it would take me longer and longer to get home. Leave work at 5 PM and by the time I got home, it would be 7:30/7:45. And again I would be tense when I got home. Decided to retire in September 2019. The commute - among some other things - was a major factor in my decision to retire.

Like someone said in this thread, the United States is unique in that we can move up and down the socio-economic ladder. We have choices - whether to get another job, retire, quit and move, whatever.
