The new feature, announced by the Office of Personnel Management, aligns with the goals of DOGE.
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s administration is testing a new capability that would allow officials to email the entire federal government workforce from a single email address, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) said in a statement Friday.
The new capability could allow Trump to communicate directly with millions of federal workers across dozens of agencies simultaneously, with a single click of a mouse.
The White House declined to comment.
The effort aligns with the government modernization goals of the new Department of Government Efficiency, headed by tech billionaire Elon Musk, and could take advantage of his team’s engineering experience as they seek to wring savings and efficiencies from government systems.
First mass email: You’re Fired!
Ability would make sense in the headline. Power, no.
There is very little that is difficult about doing this with the right software and hardware behind it.
No show up for work no get money ,LOL
Great way to get directly inside their heads.
The hardest thing would likely be creating the master list of all government employees.
This could be a great idea, but also wouldn’t it be considered working off the clock? Using non-paid time of the employee to read the messages? And what about people who have plans that get charged for messages?
I’m just wondering if this has been thought all the way through.....
He should send a Friday 4:30 pm email blast of “President Trumps Thoughts for the Week”, with the last line being “There will be a quiz on Monday!”
"Your inbox has 270,000,000 new messages"
Ha! Was gonna say the same thing.
“The hardest thing would likely be creating the master list of all government employees.”
Not hard. In my old work email system we could put lists within lists.
So, for example, you could have #FbiNewYorkOffice with all the people in that office, maintained by that office, then #FbiAll could contain the group lists of all the offices, etc
I beleive that at least two of the agencies have no direct email capabilites with the rest of them. Due to classifications in emails, the DIA and the CIA have to use a portal if they want to get with another agency. I amsure there are a few others, but I have no direct knowledge of them.
Only someone who has been on the receiving end of an ALL message knows the horror that entails. And the unending series of joke replies that ensues.
“First mass email: You’re Fired!”
DAMN, you beat me to it, lol!
When a coworker is away from his/her desk without locking the computer, sneak up to his computer and send a Reply All email saying “Free lunch on me tomorrow!”
There are offices where there are air gaps between their internal servers and the internet. Causes issues when software updates are rolled out. ted, put on physical storage devices, then uploaded.
Or so I’ve heard.
You don’t need a list. You broadcast a message to every existing .gov email account.
This is not difficult at all.
Yep, been there seen that. There was one office hwere the only unclass computer was on it’s own table. You sat there to check somehting, then closed it down when you walked away.
Special wire through the wall, ECM devices on the inside and outside of the wall.
