Why would the Danes in Denmark really care?

There are likely more Danish Americans than Danes.

Basic data, as comment in a similar thread. Repro'd here:
Denmark's population is about 6 million, compared to New York City's 8.

Greenland is considered a "self-governing country" within the "kingdom" of Denmark. Greenland's population is less than 60 thousand. Due to simple fertility demographics, that population is due to shrink rapidly now.

There will be many contenders for Greenland as time goes by. Conflict is assured. What form that conflict takes is as yet not assured. Tick tock.

--- "They're freaked out." With good reason. And President Trump has highlighted this. Guess what other global powers will come knocking.....

His offer will be the nicest, long term.

The Danes do have historical ties to Greenland. On the other hand, there is some precedent for them selling territory to the U.S. (i.e. U.S. Virgin Islands). And Vinland is already part of either the U.S. or Canada.

They thought that Trump winning another term was a joke as well. Until it happened. The Deep state spent too long in its echo chamber. Now they are in shock at having to face reality.

“ They’re freaked out. ”
They’re unable to take any stand or pressure in any situation.
They declared neutrality when WWII began and the Germans went in and occupied Denmark. I sure the Germans would have taken Greenland too if it weren’t for the US.

The world will be a safer place with the part of North America known as Greenland under U.S. control.

We’ve been footing the bill for the safety of Europe and the free world and have not been getting much to show for it.

The Danes can profit by selling Greenland, and we can manage it profitably and strengthen the security we’ve been maintaining for decades.

There are a lot of folks opposed to this simply because it’s President Trump’s idea. They need to take a look at the value and benefit of what he’s proposing. No one wants to invest in Greenland if it is not secure. It needs us to secure it and make it investable.

Denmark has no capacity to protect Greenland from Russia or Chicom invasion without the United States of America. They should sell it to us for a fair price. And then we will rename it RED, WHITE AND BLUELAND!!!

The Greenlanders could individually become rich beyond their wildest dreams with US investment and an agreement that would give each citizen a windfall greater than Alaska’s get from oil. They’re only 56k. They currently have no royalty system for individual citizens like Alaska.
Rare earth metals, Uranium, lithium, gold, copper etc.
It looks like they’ll be a push for Greenland independence and an agreement with US.

Here’s some of the companies:

- Brunswick Exploration Inc.: They have recently discovered Greenland’s first spodumene pegmatite, which is significant for lithium exploration.

- Ironbark Zinc Limited: Developing the Citronen zinc-lead project in northern Greenland.

- Lumina Sustainable Materials (formerly Hudson Resources): They operate the only anorthosite mine in Greenland, primarily for producing rock wool insulation.

- Greenland Ruby: This company mines for rubies and pink sapphires.

- KoBold Metals: In partnership with Bluejay Mining, KoBold, backed by investors like Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, is looking into critical minerals for electric vehicles.

Ownership Details:

- Shenghe Resources Holdings from China holds a significant stake in Greenland Minerals, making it a notable foreign investor in Greenland’s mining sector.

Greenland is pretty much autonomous. Offer each inhabitant (not too many of them in any case) somewhere between 1 and 10 million $$ and they will join the US in a heartbeat. All for the cost of sending a few boxes of hammers to Iraq.

The US bought Alaska from the Tsar, why not Greenland from the actual populace?

The Danes don’t really care about Greenland and would or could do nothing if the Chinese were to establish some kind of foothold there. Trump is driving a deal with the Danes to give the US control of Greenland under some type of treaty rather than outright purchase.

Freepers making fun of Trump's statements on Greenland need to wake up and inform themselves. To paraphrase my earlier post:

Greenland (and Iceland) are important to China's Arctic Strategy, and they are quickly buying interest to control Greenland's Radioactive and Rare Earth Elements, as well as establish a presence in the Arctic. They intend to establish strategic control of the very resources that make Greenland critical to US interests. The report linked below was written back in 2020, after Trump made his first bid to "purchase Greenland". You should review it. China continues to acquire resources and seeks to control Greenland - and to deny the USA control of these resources. This is a serious matter, and Trump is serious and informed. Just as China moved into Panama while we slept, they are moving into Greenland. By annexation, treaty or other means, Trump intends the USA to have a say in the future of Greenland. Essentially, this isn't USA vs Denmark, it's USA vs China. Allowing China to take it because the USA is to polite to assert our interests is insane. Greenland is North America, not Europe or Eurasia.

PRESENCE BEFORE POWER

Biden ignored this issue, as did Obama before him. Probably because China paid them a lot of money.

Denmark is starting to look very foolish - trying to hold onto a North American colony in a post-colonialist world.

Just offer them some money and let them say it’s their idea - so they can save face.

"To become a part of the US, Greenlanders would first have to vote for independence from Denmark and then vote to become an American territory."

It seems like Donald "The Art of the Deal" Trump could offer more than enough incentives to make that happen.
