Duck lard = $1.50/ounce
Hog lard = $.50/ounce
... in round numbers.
Here in the South we have lotsa hogs, not so many ducks ;-)
Fortunately, $4 delta a month is not going to break me.
It’s just not that expensive unless you own a restaurant.
Duck fat is also awesome to coat fillets before grilling. Makes the salt and pepper stick nicely. Gives a nice even char.
