Oh yes!!
My mother cooked beef liver...so done that you had to chew it forever...yuk...I cooked some once for my hub because he liked it...found it wasn’t so bad uf you did not nearly burn it! I should try it again.
Can’t eat liver -— tastes like metal in my mouth. Sure smells good, though.
One word - Mangalitsa
When I was a kid in the 50’s and 60’s, we had just two ‘fat kids’ in my school. They were from fat families, where mom & dad and grandparents were all fat. It was a small town so we all knew everybody and their cousins.
We ate pork and fat fried everything, being a Southern town in northern Mississippi. Kids weren’t fat as a general rule. This was before real sugar was replaced by High Fructose Corn Syrup in soft drinks and everything else that had sugar in it. And before the soybean oils and artificial fats were touted as ‘healthy’ alternatives to butter and lard..............
its all in how you cook it
I cook it in a whole package of bacon and a large sweet onion. ( cook the onion and bacon first)
My children used to ask me to make it.
Complete recipe if anyone wants it.
Nothing better than a pie crust made with lard. My wife’s grandmother made the best pies with lard crusts.
They’re really pretty nasty. It’s a rare ferrel pig around here that is not infested with some kind of parasite.
Mom was right again. She and my aunt lived to be 93 & 97 respectively cooking with bacon grease, lard and butter.
I use it to make pie crusts, and they are flaky and flavorful. Always get compliments.
All of which can be made at home, not a factory..............Follow the money.................
Are they? I’ll have to take your word for it- no wild pigs where I am. Maybe an escaped one here or there, but they likely won’t survive long iff they do- lots of coyotes around.
And before personal computers and cell phones- when kids actuslly got outside and ran and played for hours after school instead of sitting around on the couch texting their brother or sister in the next room.
Doesn’t matter; always has a metallic taste to some people. Thanks anyway.
Interesting. Especially with all the negative health effects coming out about seed oils such as Canola and Safflower.
Saw where Steak n Shake is switching to beef tallow for its fries:
“Steak n Shake has announced plans to switch to using ‘100% all-natural beef tallow’ when cooking its french fries, according to a recent press release.”
Can’t wait, I’ll be the first one in line.
Costco carries lard.
God says it’s not kosher, so don’t eat it! If the Beeb tells you something, do the opposite. What more can you expect from Perfidious Albion?
*** You feel better after eating liver because you’ve already eaten it and it’s already eaten and in the past rather than the future.***
Lol. You make a great point there.
