If I sit next to my wife on the couch, our dog Cody IMMEDIATELY jumps up and gets between us. My wife really dotes on him (I mean a LOT).
When my wife and I started dating, her mom ad a terrier/dachshund mix who liked me but if my wife sat next to me, the dog became standoffish. I joked that the only reason she married me because I was the only BF the dog would tolerate. After we got married, we would take care of the dog when her mom and her husband traveled. That dog would get up at 6:00 in the morning (mom was from the farm) & come to my side of the bed to dance and snort until I got up, let her out and fed her.
