Remember the hundreds of thousands of protesters who took to the streets when Donald Trump first got elected in 2017? With their pink pussy hats and incessant shrieking, it’s hard to forget.
My question now is: where’d they all go?
We were told for years that Trump 2.0 would be worse than the original. He showed his true colors on Jan. 6; this time, he’ll end democracy once and for all. Apparently, their most loyal acolytes didn’t even buy it. Only a smattering showed up to protest.
What started as the Women’s March in 2017 became the People’s March this week. Not very feminist, huh? But the name wasn’t the only difference. As NPR reported, there were far fewer attendees this time around. While the Women’s March had up to 470,000 protesters, and was jam-packed with celebrity guests, the People’s March had only “several thousand.”
So what gives? Did they not believe all the hype that Hitler was coming back to the White House? Or were they just too lazy to show up in the cold?
The truth is likely somewhere in between. They might still believe, but their political will is broken. They know #Resistance is futile. They dedicated the last eight years of their lives to this political crusade, and after all the self-inflicted anguish, have absolutely nothing to show for it. This is enough to break a strong will, let alone the lady crying on TikTok because someone accidentally called her a “she.” They have simply accepted their fate.
Today, America wakes up to a new dawn. And the Resistance, which once seemed unbeatable, has finally been defeated.

Don’t fall for that line. They will never give up and we should not be complacent.
I sure feel better when I woke up today than I did yesterday.

Not to worry. I see it is alive and well on FB pages of relatives and acquaintances. UGGGHHH I see one portraying Elon Musk doing a Hitler salute, and dozens of comments about believing what you see, etc. And one about Trump supposedly signed an order that reverses one signed by Joe B, which (Trump’s action) seems to mean that pharmaceutical costs for Medicaid and Medicare will now be going up. ??
Then some about following IL state laws to protect any illegal immigrants you know, etc., in case ICE shows up.

I hope Trump and all of us keep hammering away at them. They will not be totally defeated but they can be set back a couple decades...
This time, everybody had 4 years to see what the alternative looks like. And it was not pretty.
"Protect" them, how? Any physical obstruction of law enforcement is clearly obstructing justice, at a bare minimum.
