“the constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship”

Has anyone working at the New York Times ever read the constitution?

The closest thing to a Supreme Court ruling on this subject was United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898). The Supreme Court gave Wong citizenship even though his parents weren't citizens but were legal residents.

The current in vogue interpretation where kids whose mother illegally entered the country are granted citizenship if they were born here is a misinterpretation of the 14th amendment. Native Americans were not granted citizenship because they were not considered to be under the jurisdiction of the United States at that time. This is the closest parallel to the illegal alien situation.

I don’t think the current SC, even with the likes of Sotomayor and the newer one with the strange name, will uphold the current lunacy of letting foreign women plan a vacation to the U.S. just to drop a baby while here and then claim citizenship for the child.

Kudos, Pres. Trump for being willing to push the issue because the Left was already pushing the other way.
