Just what info/data is CCP getting from tictoc?

My understanding is that the data vulnerability comes in two forms: 1) If you have a Tik Tok account then everything you do, view and post can be tracked, analyzed and recorded. Not only your personal information but your viewing habits will tell a lot about you. 2) Apparently there is a Tik Tok app that some people install that is essentially spyware and can then track and send non-Tik Tok related information from your phone or PC back to the mothership.

The thing is that apps like Facebook do the same thing, but the concern is that Tik Tok is Chinese and is probably harvesting data to the benefit of the CCP, rather than for the benefit of the CIA like Facebook.

That said, I am not comfortable with the idea that our government feels it can just ban apps and social media willy nilly. I'd prefer that people were just less stupid and didn't use risky and harmful things.

Thanks for the reply. It seems kind of what I thought.

And I agree that I am tired of all the restrictive rules to protect those acting stupidly, and which hinder and supress my productivity.
