With Hastings, the teens made raps called “Weather Slaps” that tackle windstorms, weather safety, climate change and how environmental disaster impacts poor communities more ardently than wealthy ones. Her husband Dustin Nehl was sentenced to five years in a Oregon prison in 2017 for setting fire to a country club and other locations in his native Woodburn.
