The funny thing is that Donald Trump is (was?) not a Conservative.
More than anything else, Trump is a nationalist. He wanted secure borders. Do something about illegal immigration. Use tariffs to negotiate better trade deals with other countries.
For everything else, he was willing to deal with the "Swamp".
Instead they decided to reject him.
A big part of it is that Trump was not OK with all the Neocon perpetual wars.
