President-elect Trump will be sworn in Monday inside the Capitol Rotunda, and D.C. will be packed with events surrounding the inauguration.
Why it matters: Hundreds of thousands of people will gather in D.C. for the event, sparking road and Metro closures plus a massive security operation.
Here's everything you need to know:
Schedule
Saturday, Jan. 18
Trump will kick off the weekend with a reception and fireworks at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling.
There will be a cabinet reception and the vice president's dinner, as well.
Sunday, Jan. 19
The "Make America Great Again Victory Rally" will begin at Capital One Arena at 3pm. The Village People, Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus will perform.
Trump will also participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and a candlelight dinner.

Inaugural ceremonies have been moved indoors due to the cold weather forecast. The swearing-in ceremony, which was slated to begin at noon with Vice President-elect Vance going first and Trump to follow, will be in the Capitol Rotunda.
Capital One Arena will be open to spectators to watch the ceremony live. The Presidential Parade will follow inside the arena, which has a capacity of 20,000 people. Trump added that he would join the crowd there after his swearing-in.
Under the original plans, gates were scheduled to open at 5am ET for security screening, with musical performances starting at about 9:30am, per a news release from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies organizing the inauguration.
Country music star Carrie Underwood is set to perform. Tuesday, Jan. 21
The National Prayer Service at Washington National Cathedral will begin at 11am. It's not open to the public but will be streamed online.

I wouldn’t be caught dead at the inauguration, so I won’t go in person.
Have my fireworks ready to go, my 1776 flag flying, my red white and blue bistro lights on and my “not my president” sign showing Bi-Dung now saying “never was my president.”
When will he begin signing those 100 executive orders?
Trump: Inauguration Will Be Indoors

President-elect Donald Trump on Friday said he “ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda” due to very cold weather expected Monday.
“The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the windchill factor, could take temperatures into severe record lows. There is an Arctic blast sweeping the Country. I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th (In any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly!).
“Therefore, I have ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was used by Ronald Reagan in 1985, also because of very cold weather. The various Dignitaries and Guests will be brought into the Capitol. This will be a very beautiful experience for all, and especially for the large TV audience!”
Trump added that Capital One Arena will be opened Monday for live viewing of the inauguration and to host the presidential parade.
