People used to have false bottoms on luggage so they could bring French published copies of books by American authors such as Henry Miller.

When I was a kid I got busted trying to smuggle a Penthouse into the Soviet Union to sell on the black market. Took the soldiers like two minutes to find it in my heating vent. I had to sign several papers with upside down threes and backwards B’s on it. Thought I was going to the gulag for sure. Had to settle for selling my old blue jeans and an Beatles mix tape.

I’m sure the soldiers had to carefully examine the evidence for legal purposes.
