BS they are becoming “pet parents” because they have refused to grow up.
Most people struggle in the beginning after high school and more so your first child.
I remember fondly now, the days of eating hot dogs and Mac and Cheese day after day with my wife so we could afford baby formula and diapers, a big Fri night for us was pizza and a VHS movie. Learning to sacrifice is part of becoming an adult!
If you are just learning that as an adult it is probably to late.
You need to learn ‘delayed satisfaction’ and sacrifice as a child to accomplish sacrifice as an adult.
I saw this failing of many parents when I was a parent.
Parents lived paycheck to paycheck so that their children would have the latest designer clothes.
Kids that grew up having everything they wanted expect to keep living that way as adults even if they can’t afford those things.
These young adults then run up huge debts to continue an unrealistic life style.
We did the same.
“they are becoming “pet parents” because they have refused to grow up”
Bingo. It’s not about money which is why being a vet is so lucrative. It’s about not being able to deal with real resp I usability and emotional growth.
Sure, blame them. Don't mention who failed to raise them.
A lot of this younger generation doesn't want to inflict upon children what was inflicted upon them. Having "adults" blame them is part of the problem.
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes, don't tell them to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes, where's your shame?
You've left us up to our necks in it
