Sal should strict to history. Like most “intellectuals” he wrongly thinks his degree makes him an expert on everything
Why across the SW and TX with similar eco systems does no one else have this much trouble with forestry, and water, management as CA has for 2 decades
No, this is a political and a structural problem. The nonsense about “even if they did everything right” is nonsensical
They can’t do “everything right” because the political structure in place has failed for 2 decades to make the required decisions to make the structural changes to set them up for success.
If you actually had an open mind, you’d have found out that Sal has quite a lot of experience with firefighting, he knows quite a lot about pumping systems, salt water and corrosion (fancy that), and he points out a crucial part of the LA infrastructure that has not been invested in.
Now, does he discuss the forestry in depth? No, because he’s not expert in that area. That doesn’t seem to stop most FReepers, though, nor should it. Nothing in the article suggests that you don’t do prevention first!
We have multiple failures on both the front and back end, here, and ALL should be exposed and discussed.
The everything done right comment was only in regard to the firefighting. The prevention part is obvious.
