Donald Trump's incoming national security advisor Mike Waltz suggested during an interview on ABC's "This Week" that if Ukraine expects "the entire world to be all-in" on supporting them, they should lower their draft age from 26 to 18.
MIKE WALTZ: I will say, the other thing that we're going to need to see is really stabilizing things on the battlefield. And one of the things that we'll be asking of the Ukrainians is they have real manpower issues. Their draft age right now is 26 years old, not 18.
I don't think a lot of people realize that they could generate hundreds of thousands of new soldiers. So when we hear about morale problems, when we hear about issues on the frontline, look, if the Ukrainians have asked the entire world to be all in for democracy, we need them to be all in for democracy. And they certainly have fought bravely. They certainly have taken a very noble and tough stand. But we need to see those manpower shortages addressed. This isn't just about munitions, ammunition, or writing more checks. It's about seeing the frontlines stabilized, so that we can enter into some type of deal.

In the US, all 18 year old men must sign up for the draft at 18. I did.
If we get into a war, all 18 year olds can go, here.

During WW2 in Europe, the Allies faced a manpower shortage. We flooded the front with soldiers lacking adequate training. They filled the gaps but suffered high casualties.
A lot of bad things happen in war.
That may be what Walz is doing but there is the risk that the Ukraine will do so and then that youngest generation gets wiped away and the demographic genocide of the Ukraine will occur. The only group to win from this horror has been the whoremongers of Europe, Russia, and Turkey.
Smart negotiations.
Open dialogue with Putin.
Ukraine to stabilize the front before peacekeepers are brought in to the DMZ.

I live in this country.
Too many people have died in this conflict. The very idea of freeing up a new batch of cannon fodder makes me sick to my stomach.
This war has been an exercise in kickbacks, war machine porn and destruction. Negotiations and some sweeteners would have avoided the whole thing but all of the theft of US & other Countries $ would not have been pocketed.
The front line needs to be stabilized before DMZ negotiations begin.

If another country is being asked to fund a war, it would be stupid to not predicate it on simple expectations all other countries have for war

National Security Advisers don’t need Senate confirmation. Waltz will be the guy. I doubt he didn’t talk Ukraine policy with Trump before going on ABC today. Let’s just hope they can end the war soon.

The point is that older people should be a force for staying OUT of wars, and not starting them. Making them the ones drafted helps that point get through.

Note the DECEPTIVE headline - there is no “Trump Admin”, there is only Trump and Vance at this moment. The ‘Admin’ is Biden. Waltz has NOT even been confirmed yet.
So, considering that Waltz is still a private citizen, what he says MEANS NOTHING. What Trump says, particularly, after meeting with Putin, is what counts.
