That’s the big breakthrough announced here. This battery is claimed to have 82% of its original new capacity after 1,000 charge/discharge cycles. If you get an average of 300 miles on a charge, that’s 82% battery life left after 300,000 miles of driving.
In Lithium Ion batteries that’s true because it leads to stalactite like things being formed called dendrites. It’s possible (but not stated) that since the chemistry is different on these batteries, that they don’t form them. If so, it doesn’t apply here.
