The Palisades are getting a lot of attention, of course, but the houses in Altadena which have burned are pretty ordinary.
I was watching a YouTube video last night in Pasadena.
This was in a neighborhood of older homes. At least from the 1950s or earlier. They were all very modest. Mostly ranches that had been remodeled multiple times. These were not rich peoples houses.
There was a guy and his son on their roof spraying it down with their garden hoses. All their neighbors were helping them. Meanwhile the house right next door about ten feet away burned down. Then the a couple firetrucks showed up and put water on the house to save it and blasting the one next door that was a total loss.
