Sure enough they did call him back seven years later. He was in line next to a very diminutive girl waiting to take the test. He asked her how long she had been waiting since applying, and she said “since Wednesday”!

I graduated from college in the late 80’s with three degrees- one in criminal justice. I wanted to join the FBI. The recruiter told me- exact quote- “You’re male, white and single. You’re at the bottom of the totem pole. You’ll never get hired.”

In hindsight it was a good thing.
