Anyone sensible doesn’t move an inch on the roads in DC. In 1990 I got caught in a snowstorm and had to make it from Northern VA to Maryland. The Beltway and major streets were a nightmare. I bailed into Rock Creek Park and there was no traffic, the snow was fresh and gave a bit of traction.
Here in NM we get more snow but it’s not a problem, plus my neighbor has a tractor and plows the whole road and your drive if the gate is open.
You don’t even need a snowstorm to make the Capitol Beltway a parking lot. It becomes that daily during rush hour. 🤪
On the rare occasion I have to drive in that area, I avoid the Beltway like the plague. I did live in northern VA as a teenager and only had to drive in a snowstorm once - from Alexandria to Springfield, where we lived. My mom went weak with relief when I pulled up at our house.
One of my sisters lives in NM now. She doesn’t seem to have any issues driving in the snow.
