If the hull is intact, could he not lighten it and refloat it on the next tide?

Of course, the locals may have already lightened it for him.

Hell yes and he could get a dozen locals with ropes to right the ship and get it going for a coupla grand.

If the hull is taking on water, quick patch it and still go out and let it sink off shore.

$25,000 just to move that junker inland? Hell no.
