Problem is when food harvesters and other food handlers don’t wash their hands. I know from experience that the average person does not properly wash their hands, including food handlers.
1. Turn on water. Wet hands. Leave water running.
2. Apply soap. Rub soapy hands together thoroughly for at least 20 seconds. Scrub nail tips over palm of hands to clean nails.
3. Rinse hands thoroughly.
4. Dry hands thoroughly with paper towel.
5. Shut off water with paper towel. Do NOT turn off water with your clean hands; doing so will recontaminate your hands with whatever was on your dirty hands or the hands of whomever used the sink before you.
Step #5 is where most people mess up.
6. Be sure to grab the door knob bare-handed when leaving the restroom.
