Welllll...not quite. I was raised in Massachusetts...60 years. There are no 'O' or 'U' or 'R' sounds in that vernacular.
Example; "I could meet you in an owah in Woostah."...Woostah is correctly pronounced "Wistah"
Mehfud, Swampscut and Milford are properly pronounced "Medfid, Swampscit and Milfid.
A great skit by some who have roots there. But in print the transliteration needs more accuracy.
So...flame away all you peckaheds from da Chelsee-Reveeyah Bowlin' League.
I cannot claim to have the accent! My dad retired and moved up here, so I was subjected to some good natured ridicule about my Maryland or Virginia accent.
I only go from what I hear...:)
