Lots of tough guys and ex-cons in paving, sand and gravel, and trucking concrete mix. So I am not surprised. These kinds of rumbles were more common in past decades.
It’s all about profits and the other paving company stealing “your” jobs.
Lots of gypsies or Travelers also.
A few years back pavers committed a home invasion murder in Union County, Florida. Someone had a driveway paved, and apparently, they were a bit slow in paying. A female owner drove 2 goons to the debtor’s home and dropped them off to do their deed. She then drove away and parked at a cemetery to wait awhile before going back to pick up her boys. While she was parked at the cemetery a curious sheriff’s deputy happened to drive by and stopped and chatted with her a bit then drove away. The big clue that broke open the case was something about the accidental incident involving the woman parked at the cemetery.
When I was living in GA a few decades ago, inmate labor was used in my area to pave the lot & driveway for the fire department. They also re-roofed the jail. I sense a connection here...
