We were supposed to get Wrangel Island when we bought Alaska but it’s under Russian control.
Not much there but it would make a good National Park.
Wrangel Island was seized by the Soviets in 1924, and the Americans living there were expelled, but sadly, the Coolidge administration didn’t react. In the last century, there was a movement in this country led by some conservative activists seeking the return of Wrangel Island to the US.
