Scottie Scheffler was recently named PGA TOUR Player of the Year for a third straight year after one of the greatest seasons in golf history. His candidacy for a fourth consecutive award has been delayed by an unexpected injury to his right hand, however.
“On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass,” Scheffler’s manager, Blake Smith, said in a statement released Friday. “Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express."

Strange explanation. Did he slam a glass to a counter?
Cut his palm with broken glass while preparing Christmas dinner! ?
Squeezing a wine goblet too hard?
Oh, there is a ‘story’ here.
Athletes seldom regret coming back too late from an injury, but often regret coming back too soon. I hope Scottie waits until his hand is completely healed.
Bet his hands are insured.
That would be my guess. I saw a guy do that with a beer glass once in a bar, and it cut his hand up pretty badly.
Actually, this happened to me years ago. I was washing dishes, had a water glass that I was swishing the inside and it shattered in my hand, requiring five stitches.
Was he using an overlapping or interlocking grip?
The one on the left is the overlapping grip. The one on the right is the baseball grip.
This dude seems like an accident waiting to happen.
Agreed! Something about this story stinks. What are they not telling us, what are they hiding?...../s
Using too much pressure while washing seems like a likely explanation for Scottie. Fragile glasses used only on special occasions and not designed for the dishwasher, perhaps …
**Actually, this happened to me years ago. I was washing dishes, had a water glass that I was swishing the inside and it shattered in my hand, requiring five stitches.**
That happened to my wife years ago, but she got by without stitches. After that I have made sure that any glass that had something other than water in it gets a rinse and then filled approx 1/4 with water and set on the counter next to the sink waiting for dish washing. That way there is no stubborn residue at or near the bottom requiring hard scrubbing.
A better photo of the Overlapping grip is...

A better photo of the Interlock grip

The Sentry tournament will be held January 2nd thru January 5th at the Kapalua Plantation Course in Hawaii.
“Accident waiting to happen” Are you serious? #1 in the world and shows no signs of letting up. Does his humble family man persona seem reckless to you?
“Did he slam a glass to a counter?”
Might have been busy trying to cross traffic while running over a police officer. You know how those accidents can happen when a person ignores traffic laws and emergency contingencies...you know like lights and law enforcement officers directing traffic. Happens all the time to certain people.

Here you go buddy. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/golf/2024/08/23/lmpd-officer-scottie-scheffler-arrest-charged-with-theft/74920866007/
I’m a currently sober drunk my story would be injuries related to my intoxication anger associated with it.
I do recall an emergency room trip when I made a fist and hit a pretty sturdy chair.
