“Strap hanging” needs to be phased out asap. In the New York of today, it has become too dangerous to be forced to stand elbow to elbow with the random person. It has become like a small glass bowl, loaded with Japanese Fighting Fish.
Many of those fish have zero impulse control and will compulsively attack on sight, if they think their territory has been invaded.
