Blade Runner should be #1 and Forbidden Planet is top ten. The Thing (Carpenter) and Dark City are also top 10.

I'm a fan of the original The Thing from Another World.

The remake is true to the short story by Campbell, but I still prefer the original.

Agree. Blade Runner also provides an example of a troubled movie that failed commercially in its first theater run but became revered and highly influential over the years. A new release, Blade Runner: The Final Cut' in 4K Blu-ray is Ridley Scott's definitive version based on a remastered negative. Future Noir Revised & Updated Edition: The Making of Blade Runner is the classic guide to the movie.
