It was another frustrating week for Congress as a spending bill was passed that avoided a government shutdown but postponed our fiscal problems until March. According to Bradley Jay of Breitbart, the bill extended “spending levels and policy priorities negotiated in February and March 2024 with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and President Joe Biden.”

The INEFFECTIVENESS of the 25th Amendment points the need for term limits beyond that for President.

Ideally, both parties should be scrapped. They have a monopoly on all political powe in The U.S. and neither party represents their voters or what’s good for America.

Term limit bureaucrats and congressional ‘staff’ NOT elected officials. The deep state has to be contained NOT the our representatives.

Congress will not vote against their own self interest. It was tried before and failed.

I’d like to see term limits, and also age limits. If you’re 80+, it’s time to step back and enjoy the years you have left in your private life. I wouldn’t object to age 75+

And yes, there’s still some very competent people at that age. But just enjoy those remaining years with your family and frinds, or your own private business.

And what would you replace both parties with? The bureaucrats who run DC now? The ‘adults’ in the room - the people who had us cut and run in Afghanistan? Or George Soros and the globalists?

Tell me who YOU think should be running DC.

When you take power from ELECTED OFFICIALS you GIVE THAT POWER TO THE POWER BROKERS, LOBBYISTS, SEXUAL WEIRDO DEEP STATE...

Perhaps a progressive personal income tax on government sourced income post-enactment:

First $1,000,000 - 0%
Next $1,000,000 - 5%
Next $1,000,000 - 20%
Next $1,000,000 - 40%

It doesn’t take a new constitutional amendment for this, as Amendment XVI permits it.

The $2 million (20%) bracket will be reached in about 8 years at the new pay scale.

Government sourced income includes that from federal contractors, and pensions, directly or indirectly funded from government.

Another potential proposal for a constitutional amendment that would likely pass.

Perhaps:

Ballots for federal elections shall not bear political party identification for federal candidates.

Never happen. Congress would have to pass the laws to oversee themselves and they will never, ever, kill their cash cow. It’s like the mafia and unions. Once they get their greasy claws into the treasury they’re not going to let go.

If term limits worked California would have a responsible legislature.

What we got was a revolving door for nameless lobbyists.

Gotta change the constitution. No way the critters are going to vote themselves out of a job.

Term limits would incentivize the Kleptocracy to take whatever’s not nailed down ever faster. The congressional seniority system slows the pace, so the parasites keep the host just enough alive.

Agree. The only way this happens is to get it on a national ballot as an Amendment to the Constitution. Even then, I fear Congress would degenerate into a “Groom Your Successor” job.

I remember when Republicans were opposed to term limits as a barrier to freedom of speech. After all, if I have a good Congresscritter and want to keep em, shouldn’t I be able to vote for them as many times as possible? This was a time about the end of Reagan’s second term and HW’s first. The turns have tabled. Can’t say I disagree.
